“Trouble in paradise” a subscriber news service distribution, illustrates an issue that has existed with supervisors over the past decade with specific focus on Mary N. Piepho and Federal Glover. District 3 and 5 are now in political turmoil among the local committees, councils and districts that are linked to those supervisors. There is a local story to tell and more to know from individuals on these local committees, councils and districts.

Tensions between supervisors, staffs and volunteers, and among the volunteers themselves have reportedly impacted CCC-MAC Alamo. MAC members are dividing along the same lines that divided these individuals during incorporation efforts. Further, they are dividing as a group due to the heavy hand of aggregated politics being brought against specific members. Without remedy, CCC-MAC Alamo will collapse under the politics now in place and lack of participation by a majority of Alamo residents

The most interesting reality is Supervisors Piepho and Glover glow in the dark in the reaches of county’s seedy politics. Any actions they take to remedy issues in committees, councils and districts will simply increase their negative visibility in the eyes of voters in their districts and throughout Contra Costa. Any future district boundaries will include new voters that are already conditioned to expect the worst from these supervisors. A good example is participants in Contra Costa neighborhoods e-exchanges have seen the Grand Jury report on Keller Canyon mitigation funds “fraud” and the documents that link such actions directly to Supervisors Piepho and Glover.

“They will not run unopposed,” is repeated by many significant groups in describing supervisors’ 2012 and beyond elections. Regional forums now have e-viral campaigns in progress and strategies for promoting candidates that register at the last minute to represent the majority of voters’ desire for change. The results of such elections, quite like Alamo incorporation, will be decided in cyberspace. No action by CCC-BOS in redistricting or outreach will change that eventuality

Certainly there is a story to tell.
