And your point is...

This is like saying Jerry Brown when he was mayor of Oakland wanted to "abolish public schools" by implenting more charter schools...McNerney is desperate, and his negative ads attacking Harmer almost seem like religious bigotry against an entire religion...Shame on McNerney.

One of the tenets this country is founded upon is the separation of church and state. The US government has been blaming teachers and adminsitrators for the past 40 years for the poor and diminishing performance of public schools. The government has about tried everything under the sun to improve performance. Is it not about time to point the finger at government, itself, the myriad of expensive programs and "fixes" for the decreasing performance of public schools in the United States, and not the teachers?

One could argue that education is in itself a "religion" that supports and attempts to propogate a failing governmental/educational system.

It is time for the US government to get out of religion of education.

JRM: Seperation of church and state does not mean favoring non-religion over religion, and outlawing any mention or reference to religion in a government setting...Our founding fathers were religious people, and did not want to create an entirely secular world, outlawing religion, they simply did not want government favoring one religion over another religion...Pick up a $20 dollar bill(if you still have any left after Obama's taxes) and you will see in big letters, "In God We Trust' on the back of it...Go watch the U.S. Supreme Court start a session and you will hear it always starts with a prayer to God...Your view of the seperation of church and state is not what our founding fathers wanted, and is not what our great country was based on.
