If the county is the PROBLEM, then fix the county
Around Town, posted by Jim Conner, a resident of another community, on Jan 1, 2008 at 10:44 am

Dear neighbors,

After reading much incorporation information from propopents of various incorporation proposals and the commentary of opponents, I realized that all agree that "Contra Costa County's abusive, autonomous power is the problem" in our Alamo region and throughout Contra Costa. This morning's kickoff e-campaign release really focused the need for county reformation to a lean, effective, citizen-led regional government we can create as Contra Costa voters.

What are your thoughts, neighbors?

Alamo neighborhood forum participants are engaged is campaigns by neighborhoods throughout Contra Costa County to start county reformation with the replacement of all supervisors. The Alamo Region is specifically cooperating with allied community forums in Brentwood/Byron (Disccovery Bay), Dougherty Valley/Blackhawk, Danville/San Ramon, and Walnut Creek to promote our planned introduction of candidates for District 3 Supervisor.

Among our neighbors are individuals that will be public campaigners for change including supporters of Guy Houston. We encourage Town Square Forum readers to support their candidates with commentary on the issues of this campaign:

1 - Local community planning as repeal of the MAC changes and establishment of the community-funded SuperMAC.

2 - Limitations of the powers of supervisors and establishment of grand jury authority and responsibility to review supervisors' actions in opposition to community advisory.

3 - County fiscal status and long-range impact of lower revenues and higher costs for community services.

Post your thoughts but protect your identity. Campaigns can get emotional and intimidating.
