What do you think should be done to stop kids from partying in the Oak Hill Park parking lot, smoking pot on top of the park's hill, and "parking" on nearby Glenwood Court, leaving alcohol containers and condoms in their wake? Endless calls to the police to drive by this area have not stopped the kids from using it as their preferred party zone. Suggestions?

I doubt the city has the funds, but some high wattage lights (perhaps motion sensor activated?) might dissuade them. Sounds like all the cops are doing is indeed "driving by". If they were making open container arrests and taking the little reprobates back to their parents you would be seeing less of it than you are.

If it’s really bugging you, you can go on Craigslist or whatever and hire a security services firm. For a few hundred bucks, several burly guys in security uniforms will show up the next time there’s a party and clear the rug rats out. Or if you’re up to it, you and some buddies could do it yourselves. Could be fun.

Starting a community Neighborhood Watch program (make sure it has teeth -- which means neighbors have to actually get involved!)might work. The Danville PD can help you set it up. Arm the watch patrols with flashlights and put up signs that indicate a watch is in effect. Make up a schedule of intermittent "walk-bys" for everyone to share the load in. A few "untimely" flashlights in a car window done frequently will do wonders to stop the mess.

Talk to the kids, tell them to "take it away" from your neighborhood. It worked for us, we were the party scene until we banded together and every time the kids would start hanging out - one of the four of us would go out and talk to them, telling them their behavior was not acceptable in our neighborhood. We all have kids we don't want influenced, or injured, as a result of their bad behavior.

Never mean, never confrontational, but always saying if they don't leave immediately - we were calling the police. They always left and two years later have not come back.

We call the police nightly, and there have been arrests made/parents called, but I think bright lights may be the only other answer. We're on a small court and I don't want retaliation, nor do I want to shine a flashlight if a drug deal is going down. If they would just drive by nightly and see what is going on, maybe they'd decide to install some bright lights or "No Parking from Dusk until Dawn" signs...
