The age of the "victim"? The homeowner was the victim, and he apparently lit up one of the perps.
I love how the article says "the condition of the shot person is not being released by police".
Uh, not to be blitheringly obvious, but I believe his condition is known as rigor.
I know this article is going to bring the gun nuts out in force, and in this case it worked out for the home owner, but more often than not it goes the other way. And I say this as a person who owns a .38.

West side story ...
52-year old homeowner "victim". 20-something black "suspect". Victim and suspect "know" each other. Not a "random act". Can you say "drug deal gone bad"?

I thought the first report was that the homeowner shot and killed one of the perps?

If the Police did not request the schools be locked down, then I'm assuming the School District did. If this is the case, I wonder why San Ramon Valley High was not locked down as well? They are as close to El Pintado, if not closer, as Monte Vista. Also, why did they release the lockdown if the suspect was never located? Many kids walk home, some alone, especially in that area. That concerns me the most.
Does the School District have an emergency action plan when something like this occurs? Sadly, incidents such as Columbine and the Virginia Tech massacre have shown us that awful things do happen...even in nice places.

The lockdown ordered by the SRV district office just goes to show how out of touch they are with the schools and students. Shooting occurred at 10:17am on Thursday morning on El Pintado Road. Although the Danville police department did not request the lockdown, Stone Valley Middle School was requested to lockdown at 12:45pm in the afternoon, by the district office, a mere two and one half hours later. Why SRVHS was not locked down when they are the closest school to the shooting incident is still a mystery???

If the victim knows the shooter then he, and the cops, know the guys name... Why not post an APB so he can be caught. Or should we all be on the lookout for that vague description they're giving us???

And did you know that they told the kids at school that there was a shooting on El Pintado? Can you imagine how the kids felt that lived in that street? And then they let the kids take the us home!

I don't believe Gunslinger's comment should have been censored if the Danville Weekly's half story is not censored...half stories and inaccurate reporting is just a bad. These past few months the Danville Weekly has not been what it was.

Dear Emily,
Do the Danville investigators actually think the shooting suspect is still in Danville or should they be looking elsewhere?

hmmm. black man. gun. shooting. sounds pretty normal to me based on crime in other areas of contra costa county. but when it happens in danville it hits really close to home. no pun intended.
