Following Mt. Diablo Region YMCA's announcement of filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy Friday and transferring its operations to the Berkeley-Albany YMCA, officials say there should be no change in services offered in the San Ramon Valley -- at least for now.

IF there is no intent to proceed with the San Ramon Building more particularly since there is NO MONEY for this project, questions immediately arise.
Who or what approved this project when there was virtually little or no money in the "bank" to cover this project? How did this project get this far, DESPITE THE ECONOMIC TURNDOWN WHICH IS BEING USED as a cover for inappropriate money planning and seeking of county and public approval for this YMCA project?
Who was conning whom with the project for the building of this YMCA building without sufficient funds to even see the end of the end of the project?
How many people could be involved in this super "selling" job on many levels of government and public for approval?
Now that this failed project sits there with a very costly "bridge" to no where, who or what will have to seek clear, definite, defined plans WITH MONEY TO FINISH for approval from top down????? And pass correct, appropriate approval!!
Are these questions wrong and might there be some hidden factors which we dont have as yet? Might there be someone(s) holding their breath hoping that the real facts dont surface and the public will find out how this failed project from day one(no money to even come close to finishing) never had a chance. Even with the economic turndown, where was the funding to complete this project to even argue to have these plans approved? Can anyone build a house with a smile and good will? Of course not, then how did this project get past the initial stages with no to little money to finish?
Now the public around this land face even greater danger to what may come in behind the failed YMCA project. Will the county carelessly allow a further failed project more harmful then the YMCA which right now seems like it will not finish the San Ramon Project?
What do you think? How much duplicity can the public take? How much money will the next project syphon off from more vital public needs? How many smiling, back slapping people will surface for another potential project shoehorned into that land?
A few thoughts/questions with many hidden in the publicly announced YMCA bankruptcy.

Rick Callaway is speaking for a defunct board and organization without authority:
1. SRVUSD must go to bid for campus child learning services effective September of this year.
2. BAYMCA has no rights or title to operations on SRVUSD campus and is not a current recognized SRVUSD supplier.
3. MDR YMCA has title in jeopardy to SRV YMCA property in Alamo and Danville and investors are ready to fund and claim title.
4. MDR YMCA has no remaining funds for construction and such donations are part of Chapter 11 (more like Chapter 7) settlement assets.
Current district residents’ attitudes are:
1. SRVUSD, according to district parents committee supported by neighborhoods, must specify child learning centers for before/after school programs that are not offered by YMCA organizations or current SRV YMCA staff on campuses.
2. BAYMCA has no relationship with SRVUSD administration, PTA and parent groups and is considered a foreign supplier without expertise in provision of local child learning center operations.
3. Investors have researched title, funding and liabilities for the Alamo SRV YMCA property and will, if the bankruptcy court allows, fund and claim the property.
4. Discovery related to court filings now confirms that donations have been used for current operational expenses and will be consumed in settlement of MDR YMCA outstanding obligations.
Corridor neighborhoods, via their ad hoc SRVUSD parents committee, have confirming documentation from SRVUSD, title companies, funding groups and investors to validate this information. Such information will be used in a news service supported, BANG feature on the dissolution of MDR YMCA in the near future.

Full disclosure on monies sent, donated and appropriated for the Alamo facility without REAL BASES sounds like a novel idea. Surely an accounting is in order inasmuch as that money came from someone(s) who believed in the aspirations of the Founders' of YMCA. Question is, Will one be actually provided and if so, to what degree?
Just some afternoon thoughts from one who has lived in the area for about 40 years.

Lets see, funds were received by this public agency via public donations PLUS FUNDING from some investors about whom the public had little to no information about. Would this be a correct assessment?
So did the person(s) who was heading up the fund drive and/or administrative head(s) of this fund drive, have some inkling that there was not sufficient funding to make sure that the public appeal and initiation of construction would be successfully completed? Lets assume that there was not that inkling, why these people heading any organization!! Lets assume that they did have that inkling, again why would these people during these economic times continue except to -----(you fill in the blank).
Did the public get duped again? Was the public sought for a fun(ding) time? Were good hearted citizens carefully misled? Who could have believed that in these very poor economic times, that such a public building could ever be finished? Would a field mouse have believed it? Not hardly!!!! They can smell a rat in the distance!!!
So investors now seemingly will take over the land.
Let's be ALL THE MORE WATCHFUL AND RESTRICTIVE about what and how that land will be used AND that the exact and strict land use rules be followed!!!!! Rather then be shamed twice over foolish plans with big hopes based on public desires for improvement.

For those readers that are still seeking accountability by SRV YMCA there are several public disclosures available:
#1 - For the Alamo Site and the Danville Theater, title records will provide access to how the properties are funding and the status of such funding.
#2 - MDR YMCA bankruptcy filings will include detailed accountability for sources and uses of funds as public documents.
#3 - BAYMCA has fiduciary responsibility to the bankruptcy court in defining how they will fund and operate SRV YMCA. Again, these are public documents.
#4 - The county, as District III, and the town of Danville Council have oversight responsibilities to the residents of Alamo and Danville and should be forthcoming with their own public distribution of such documents noted in items #s 1,2 and 3.
