Decision time for the Alamo YMCA
Around Town, posted by Alamo Ron, a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on Apr 7, 2010 at 9:38 am

The April monthly Alamo publication has an informative article from the Alamo Improvement Association. This article raised my concerns about further widening of Danville Boulevard in Alamo. There is a distinct possibility that a widening will occur due to the construction of YMCA.

However, it seems that the YMCA Project has been halted due to funding problems and the YMCA people are stonewalling any attempts at getting status information.

It's time for them to make a decision as to whether or not this project will proceed or not. My opinion is that it should be abandoned. It was never wanted.

The YMCA honchos must not be allowed to drag things out over several years. Email addresses of the YMCA Executive Team are at this link:

And while you're at it, ask them about the donations which have already been made and which were to be used specifically for the Alamo YMCA Project.

Dear Ms. Gallati (fgallati@baymca.org, acting President, MDR YMCA.

You have been invited to disclose the status of donations and the SRV YMCA commercial facilities project in Alamo.

You might support Jill Purcell, Chair of the SRV YMCA Board of Directors in appropriate disclosure to Dolores for publication.

Dear Dolores,

It seems Alamo Ron is not going to get an answer.

But be assured that all Alamo Ron's friends as Oxymo Ron, Spike Marvel, Forest Warn, and many more pseudonyms will continue to ask for such answers. In the meantime, neighborhoods throughout MDR YMCA's service areas are committed to withdrawing donations and fees until appropriate public reporting is completed.
