Tolls may be raised at all seven Bay Area bridges

A key transportation committee is considering raising tolls by at least $1 on the Bay Area's seven state-owned bridges next year, but the proposal doesn't seem to be generating much controversy as only five people spoke at a public hearing on the subject Wednesday.

They should raise the bridge toll to $10.

Why not make the people who use the bridge pay for it rather than relying on taxpayer subsidies?

There’s too much gridlock on our freeways. Maybe tolls could reduce that. I would gladly pay an extra $10 to get to my destination on time rather than sitting in traffic for hours.

If people can’t afford the toll, maybe they’ll start taking public transportation more often, or carpool.
