Iron Horse Trail: too much horse manure!! Crimes & Incidents, posted by Hal Bailey, a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on Sep 1, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Dear Dolores,
It is time that horse owners clean up the manure left by their animals in the same manner as dog owners. The trail is becoming an ugly odor of horse manure left on the ground by owners without consideration for neighbors.
There are options to file notice with EBRPD that horse manure is now considered hazmat material by recent university studies. The affect would be restriction of horses from the trail.
Horse owners, please simply pick up after your animals.

As a frequent user of the trail, I agree with Hal. It's ironic that should the need arise to tap a kidney during one of my frequent sojourns between Danville and Walnut Creek, I must "hold it", while horse owners' animals leave piles of unsightly, stinking manure that might even gag a maggot. This is indeed the definition of arrogance. Perhaps these horse owners should be required to leave their addresses in a log at the trail head so that we can use their properties to relieve ourselves.
