Budget Crisis = "Police State" Activity Crimes & Incidents, posted by Falsely Accused Victim, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Jun 30, 2009 at 3:39 pm
It appears as if our so called "wonderful" police force has been really cracking down on activity in and around Downtown bars and restaurants in an effort to enhance City revenues due to budgetary issues. People are being pulled over for almost nothing, police patrol parking lots looking for potential offenders, and anyone who could possibly be a suspect is being subjected to this almost "police state" activity.
I am in fact a victim of such recent police behavior and part of the strategy is falsely enhance and misquote the facts in order to serve the needs of law enforcement. And I am not the only victim here, there are countless others I have spoke to in the community that have their own story to tell of unfair and unethical treatment.
I thought law enforcement officials could be trusted to provide fair and equitable treatment for all, and a budget crisis is not a reason to violate people's basic rights afforded under the Constitution.
I have become very disappointed and disheartened in the system, and am fighting to awaken our community to realize whats been going on here.

Dear Dolores,
I quite felt the pain of this forum's author because I have been the victim of Danville Police during one of their border raids into Alamo. I can understand that Danville Police must concentrate on Danville victims because that is where they are allowed share of the profits from citations and other criminal fees.
It should be very appropriate for the Danville Police Chief to answer this forum with commitment to fair and reasonable actions by his force. I would further suggest Candace Andersen, as a lawyer, explain Danville's commitment to fair law enforcement for the town's citizens.
Then, Alamo can expect more border raids to fill the time of the Danville Police and district 3 as such raids' sponsors.
Oh, my Gawd, maybe this time Jason will bring his chainsaw!!

This is not meant as a personal attack but rather an honest suggestion. You really should consider finding another hobby which could include getting outside a little more or volunteering some of your time.
It really is not conducive for you to turn this domain into your personal playground. Perhaps it is time for you to start your own?
Appears to me, the original poster was trying to actually make a point. But once again you had to come along and rain on the post with your off-color commentary.
As I have said before it is your opinion and you are entitled to it. However, just because you can, doesn't always mean you should.

Regarding the post by Falsely Accused Victim, I, too, have heard of and observed the behavior ascribed to our "wonderful" police force and described in his commentary.
Regardless of the reason, i.e. budget cuts, bored police officers who feel a need to justify their positions, etc., while this may or may not enhance the city's coffers and may or may not enhance the police department's job security, in the long run it will not enhance the business climate in Danville. Danville's economy is largely dependent upon restaurants and bars, and there is no shortage of these throughout the Bay Area. I, for one, and many that I know, no longer patronize establishments in Danville for fear of being subjected to the treatment described above by falsely accused victim.
Mr. Mayor and Chamber of Commerce, please take note.
