Great article on the quality of eating establishments in Danville! With places such as the Blackhawk Grille, Basil Leaf Cafe, Bridges, Forbes Mill, Faz, Amber's, Los Panchos, The Peasant and the Pear, The Prickly Pear, Piatti's and Patrick David's, we are blessed. Even the National chain restaurant, Denny's, has stepped up to the plate. Boy, it is really wonderful living in Danville, CA!
Tom, Not to mention THE award winning and my favorite Essin Restaurant & Bar in Danville's Rose Garden.
don't forget the Tower Grille!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mangia Mi. Best Italian food in the area!
Don't forget the fab thai at "Similan."
(formerly of Blackhawk - now in the dismal Midwest.)
So glad to hear Sakura is getting the kudos it deserves. Despite the less than attractive location the sushi is not to be missed. Way to go Tony - we miss you!
Yeah Rodney Worth! Also what about Bridges and Forbes Mill?
Ah, yes, my little chickadee, there is no finer dining that the perverbial tube steak. The Dog is the culinary epitome of Dan's lovely little village, I should say, and keeps me from my other delights. Yes, in deed, I do love children, properly cooked, but, of course, that only plays in vaudeville.
May, where are you when I need you?
So glad to Miglet's get a mention! Not only the best cupcake shop Gluten Free or NOT, but such delicious other bakery goods and outstanding groceries. Glad we have Miglet's in our town!
@WC: My on-line dictionary claims that the proper adjectival form is "pervertible," but I do think Ms. Mae would agree with you about the splendors appurtenant to that particular gustatory delicacy.
What about Sideboard - the best restaurant ever!!! I could eat there every meal, every day. The owners and staff are really personable and the food is wonderful. I have a food allergy, and they always have very tasty (safe) entrees (or they substitute) AND peanut butter/chocolate cookies for dessert that are my guilty pleasure. It's the one place everyone in my family agrees on when we go out to eat, and I take business associates there as well. It's perfect!
How can you mention fine dining without mentioning the remodeled Taco Bell on Diablo Road? (OK, this is a bit tongue in cheek but IMHO they did a nice job for a fast food chain).
And for a highbrow dinner you can't beat a tray of Trader Joe's sashimi and a bottle of $2 Chuck, at Chez Nous, served with food for thought in the guise of a good book.
PS - Anyone else miss El Balazzo?
I have to second Theguynextdoor: Essin Bar & Grill is the best restaurant in Danville. Sideboard and Forbes Mills are great too, but you never know with Bridges. Sometime the food and service is great, othertimes it sucks.Last time I ate at Bridges the service was horrible, and I had to wait forever for service. I've crossed them off my list.
Petal Power: "PS - Anyone else miss El Balazzo?"
Yes, I definitely miss El Balazo for its consistent, decent-quality, "fast," tasty food. A real family value.
Too bad about their hiring practices.
There is still at least one location in Pleasanton (580 & Hopyard exit), we you need a fix.
Thumbs up on the Peasant and the Pear (as well as The Little Pear), Mangia Mi, and Cafe Esin!
I would say that my favorite breakfast in the area is at another of the "Pear" family (albeit in Alamo), The Peasant's Courtyard. Ate there yesterday, and the Peasant Scramble (basically a "Joe's Special"), and my wife's Corned Beef Hash (with parmesan potato cake) were as outstanding as always!
It's in San Ramon, but what about the Brass Door.
Tonight, as we celebrated a birthday, we enjoyed Vanessa's Bistro in Walnut Creek. Our conversation was about the great WC international restaurants with Indian, Cuban, Vietnamese, Spanish, and exceptional French and Italian.
We enjoy restaurants in our corridor and suggest an enjoyable cuisine tour on North Main and more in Walnut Creek.
The Thai House on Rose Avenue is THE BEST!!! The atmosphere is beautiful, the food, light and flavorfull and the service impeccible!
