One of the signs of spring in Danville is the end of the annual natural grass field moratorium. Each year in December, all natural grass sports fields, as well as the Canine Corral at Hap Magee Ranch Park, close for the winter months.

Maintenance Services Director Jed Johnson said the moratorium is necessary in order to give staff the opportunity to conduct routine maintenance on the fields and dog park in addition to giving the sod time to heal and grow.

As a reminder, even during the regular season for the Canine Corral, the dog park is closed for routine maintenance work each Tuesday.
