If you missed Danville's annual lighting of the Old Oak Tree on Friday, don't worry. There are still plenty of activities to get you in the holiday spirit.

Here's a list of holiday happenings in the area:

If tree lightings get you in the festive spirit, the big one, the Bishop Ranch Tree lighting will be Friday, Dec 7. The event will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Bishop Ranch 1, 6111 Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon.

The event will offer sleigh rides, a snow park with real snow, live music and the ceremonial lighting of our spectacular 65-foot Douglas Fir tree. The guest of honor, of course, is Santa Claus.

There will be a variety of refreshments and activities for the kids. This year, the Rotary Club will be on hand to accept donations for One Warm Coat.

Hospice of the East Bay is holding its 26th Annual Tree of Lights ceremonies to be held in 11 locations throughout Contra Costa, with three trees in the area:

The Blackhawk tree will be lit on Friday, Dec. 7, 5 p.m. on Blackhawk Road at Blackhawk Drive.

The Alamo tree will be lit on Wednesday, December 12, 12:15 .pm. at the Alamo Women's Club, 1401 Danville Boulevard, Alamo.

The Danville/San Ramon tree will be lit on Friday, Dec. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the town Meeting Hall (201 Front St., Danville) with a reception to follow.

Each light on every tree is symbolic of a life and will shine in honor or memory of a beloved friend or family member. Lights can be dedicated for a minimum gift of $25; for light purchases, donations, sponsorships and event questions, please call 887-5678 or contact www.hospiceeastbay.org.

Holidays on the Farm at Forest Home Farms Historic Park will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, featuring Santa as he used to look. Admission is free and two of Santa's reindeer will make a visit. You can purchase a holiday tree and enjoy tractor rides, Victorian ornament making, sheep herding demonstrations and tour the farm There will be a puppet show on Dec 1, while Dec 8 will feature holiday market vendors. See the specially decorated Italianate Victorian Glass House and the "Teddy Bears Through Time" exhibit, which is included in the tour.

The community is gearing up for the annual Sing along Messiah, with choral; workshops from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the San Ramon Community Center on Nov. 27, Dec.1 and Dec. 11 in advance of the sing along, which will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at San Ramon Presbyterian Church (12943 Alcosta Boulevard).

Bah Hum Bug Scrooge's Christmas Carol will be presented by San Ramon Community Theater at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, Dec. 7, Dec. 8, Dec. 14 and Dec. 15 at the Front Row Theater, Dougherty Station Community Center. For more information please visit [www.SanRamon.CA.gov/parks or call 973-3200.

"A Very Jingletown Christmas," directed by Tri-Valley Hero Jeff Seaberg will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 13. This new holiday tale places the audience at the North Pole Village of Jingletown, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Santa is worried the excitement over the celebration will interfere with Christmas. Significant events in Jingletown history are remembered as Christmas approaches and everyone at the North Pole learns a valuable lesson about the meaning of Christmas.

More information can be found on the town of Danville website.

An elf workshop will be held Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Danville Community Center (420 Front St.). Children will create hands-on holiday crafts, get their faces painted, socialize and take a photo with Santa. Due to the popularity of this event, there are two sessions available and pre-registration is required. To learn more or to register, call 314-3400 or visit www.danville.ca.gov.

There needs to be more information about: "A Very Jingletown Christmas,"

What place, cost?

Is the time (9:30 AM) correct?

Is this a play...musical?

Intended for adults....children....both?

Don't forget about the big colorful tree lighting in Alamo on Sunday Dec. 2 in the mini park on Danville Blvd. There will be refreshments, music from Alamo schools' choirs, hot chocolate and coffee, cookies, and fun. Santa will also make an appearance. It starts at 5PM on Dec 2.

Good morning,

An update to the Elf Workshop. Unfortunately, both sessions for this weekend's event have filled and a wait list has been started.

The event is still in need of volunteers for both sessions and all are encouraged to help out with the great Town event.

To be put on the wait list or to sign up to volunteer, call 314-3400.

Thanks and have a great day!
