Arrest made in armed robbery spree

A 42-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after two robberies in different Tri-Valley towns.
San Jose resident Matthew Fagan was arrested in Dublin after allegedly holding up the Old Navy store around 7:40 p.m. on Nov. 13. Fagan fled in a gray Chevrolet and was spotted a car matching that description on westbound interstate Highway 580 near Castro Valley, police said. Officers
also recovered the money stolen from Old Navy from the vehicle.
Around 7:10 p.m. that evening, Fagan had held up the Walgreens at 21001 San Ramon Valley Boulevard, before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. Witnesses said Fagan donned a fake beard and carried a black gun.
No one was hurt in either robbery and Boehrer did not know how much money, if any, had been stolen. San Ramon's K-9 unit was sent to Dublin to help track the suspect.
Fagan is currently in custody in Alameda County and officials from Dublin Police did not return calls for comment. Boehrer said Fagan has not been charged in the San Ramon incident as of Friday afternoon.
In addition, investigators believe he is responsible for recent robberies in other counties. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Dublin police Sgt. It does not seem to be improving with all the talk in Congress and from the White House. Show me the money! The economy will improve when companies start hiring and expanding and right now they are afraid of all the tax cuts and new regulations. Keep taxing the upper 2% who create jobs and spend most of the money and we will end up like Greece, Spain and Italy. It's amazing that the most uninformed, unproductive gave a mandate to the most unqualified and inexperienced. We are an ineptrocracy.

Does anyone ever stop to notice that police in this part of the 680 corridor seem to have a pretty high rate in closing cases - especially compared to Oakland, Richmond, Hayward, Concord, etc? Instead of getting on your tea horses, maybe you should say a little thank you. I'm not a cop, but the guys and ladies in our area do a pretty decent job. And if your son or daughter works a night job at a retail store, be glad there is one less perp at large.

Posted by Unknown, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Nov 30, 2012 at 1:22 pm I know this man, his crime is directly related to the fact that he is mentally ill and the system has no place for people who do not recognize mental illness within themselves to seek help. (That is part of the disorder) Addiction and mental illness is why our prisons are over filled. Prisons are a big business, so they actually do not want these people to get well or give them resources. This is a symptom of a much larger problem.
