 | Rhett is a sweet, gentle soul who is desperately looking for his forever home. We are estimating his age to be about 8yrs old. Because this 8-year-old is the best boy and does not deserve to spend the
rest of his life in a shelter, Tri Valley Animal Rescue is making him our "Older Pick of the Litter." TVAR will sponsor his adoption fee and has provided a bed, leash, collar and food. He has his bag packed and it includes a few toys as well.
Check out his video at www.tvar.org. Click on the animals for adoption and then click on Rhett. You can meet and visit Rhett at East County Animal Shelter (4595 Gleason Dr., Dublin) seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to
5:30 p.m.Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by the dogfather, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Nov 17, 2012 at 12:09 pm Regarding Rhett -- for anyone who may be hesitant about adopting a non-puppy, The Bark magazine devoted an issue to the special qualities of older dogs inFeb/Mar 2011. They included the following essay: "In Praise of Older Dogs" Web Link
There's also a Bay Area Rescue that is exclusively for older canines: it's called Muttville -- they do great work! Web Link
If you plan to adopt, please don't overlook the charms and settled natures of the "mature" set -- thanks!

Posted by Diane, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Nov 18, 2012 at 9:30 pm Has Rhett been adopted already? I wanted to send a link to a coworker who is looking for a dog, but I don't see him in the adoptable pets list.
I can vouch for adopting an older dog. We have a wonderful dog adopted at almost 4 years old. He is the sweetest, smartest dog we've ever had, and seems grateful to live in a good home. Best decision we have ever made!
