Elderly man critically injured in hit-and-run collision

Bookmark and Share
Police are attempting to track down a suspect in a hit-and-run collision in San Ramon last Friday that critically injured an elderly man.

Officers responded Friday to reports of a driver who failed to stop after hitting a pedestrian on Village Parkway south of Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon, police said.

Police arriving on the scene located the pedestrian, an 82-year-old man, suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, where he remained as of Tuesday evening, according to police.

Investigators learned that the vehicle involved in the collision, described as a late-model gray or silver Nissan Altima, was driving south on Village Parkway from Alcosta Boulevard when it hit the man, then continued southbound without stopping.

According to police, the car should be missing the driver-side rear view mirror and should have some left front-end damage from the crash. A witness described the driver as a "male of Indian descent" with a light complexion in his mid 40s.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective at 973-2731.
