 | Teenage model and internet sensation Cassandra Bankson is a stunning beauty, poised at six feet tall with long curly hair. Online, she often receives comments on her positivity, looks and humble attitude.
Under the handle DiamondsandHeels14, the 19-year-old shared her battle with severe cystic acne alongside makeup tips. Filmed in her living room with concealers, shadows and brushes of all types, Bankson has more than 300,000 subscribers and her videos have over 44 million hits.
Once bullied and lacking confidence because of her skin, the teen recently appeared on the Today Show to discuss her tutorials and recent trip down the runway.
"I had a lot of time because of the social situation. I wasn't talking to friends or family. I would do homework, play with my cats and essentially learn how to put on makeup. And a lot of trial and error really got me there," Bankson told Today's Samantha Guthrie.
Bankson was so anti-social that she transferred schools and graduated two years early. Learning how to do flawless makeup helped break out of her shell, she said.
Since first posting a tutorial to cover acne-prone skin in 2010, Bankson has received innumerable supportive comments that brought her confidence; her Youtube channel has over 300,000 subscribers.
"It's unbelievable. I mean, I think that definitely makeup and just skin care in general is so important and education is really the foundation for understanding your skin and beauty is confidence," she told Guthrie. "And I think that makeup is that gateway for a woman to feel confident until they overcome whatever insecurities they have so that they can feel beautiful with or without."
The acne-plagued teen took her upbeat attitude for a walk during designer Stacey Igel's "Boy Meets Girl" show on Sept. 12. Igel said she was struck by Bankson's stunning looks and decided to cast her after an online session.
Bankson called her renewed modeling career "unreal," adding that "confidence is beauty, you can't have one without the other."
