How a consultation can catapult students into college

In this week's Doing College, expert admissions adviser Elizabeth LaScala responds to a reader's inquiry about when to seek private advising. "According to the US Department of Education, in 2009-10 public secondary school counselors had average caseloads of 434 students. The students to counselor ratios vary widely, with California having one of the least desirable ratios in the country," LaScala writes.
