San Ramon residents arrested for overnight thefts
Danville PD arrests four in connection with items stolen from autos

 | Detectives with the Danville Police Department announced Friday that they had arrested four people in connection with thefts from vehicles.
Police Chief Steve Simpkins said detectives were able to make the arrest by working a surveillance operation during the night. Detectives were in neighborhoods monitoring a "bait car" in the vicinity of thefts that occurred last week. The bait car was used by detectives to simulate an opportunity for theft by leaving property in plain view inside the car.
During the operation a nearby neighbor reported four subjects had ransacked his car and he was chasing them down the street. The suspects were located about 25 minutes later driving in San Ramon and were captured with the assistance of San Ramon police. Stolen property from several victims in Danville was recovered and an investigation is underway to link the suspects to last week's thefts.
Arrested were two juveniles and two adults, all from San Ramon. Jacob Trout, 18, was arrested for possession of stolen property. Gregory Mifune-Gutierrez, 21, was arrested for an outstanding burglary warrant and possession of an unlawful weapon. Both adults were booked at the Martinez Detention Facility; the juveniles were released to their parents.
"I am very proud of our detectives for working proactively and creatively to address the recent spate of thefts in the community," said Chief Simpkins. "By partnering with residents who take steps to secure their property, we will do our part to aggressively catch criminals. Together we will send a strong message to those who think they can come to Danville to commit crimes."

Also feels like many of the readers are rushing to judgment (helped by the unfortunate wording of the article) as there is no evidence linking these individuals to any theft including the one committed on the "neighbor".
The neighbors items were not recovered, and the items recovered wire not stolen property, but rather the property of Mr. Trout.
