Danville Police are holding a 37-year-old man in custody in connection with a Monday afternoon
robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank branch office at 156 Diablo Road.
Police Chief Steve Simpkins said the robbery occurred at 3:15 p.m. Monday afternoon when the
suspect, identified as Vahidreza Einy, entered the bank and threatened to blow up the building
unless he was given money.
Simpkins said according to witnesses, Einy had a cell phone in one hand and the other in the pocket of his coat. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money,Einy fled the bank in an unknown direction.
Danville Police officers, including Officer Mike Ireland and his K-9 partner Donna, responded to teller alarms activated at the bank. Simpkins said that Donna was able to track Einy to a nearby apartment complex, where he had been staying.
At the same time, bank officials were able to confirm Einy's address from bank records. Police then entered the apartment and took Einy into custody. Further confirmation of his identity was gained through the bank's video surveillance and witness IDs.
As part of the investigation, Detective Sgt. Allan Shields procured a search warrant, and recovered the missing cash along with other evidence. Einy is facing charges of bank robbery. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by Treetopper, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Jan 11, 2011 at 7:52 pm This guy was a customer??? The bank got his address from their records??? Sounds to me like the guy wanted to get caught. If convicted, he's gonna get free room and board for awhile. Free medical. Free TV. Free legal advice. Free everything (except freedom to walk the streets). In these tough times, being a bank robber doesn't sound like such a bad deal. ONLY KIDDING OF COURSE. But, it makes you wonder what his motive was, doesn't it?

No Einstein, this guy.....
