Sun shines on Art in the Park

The Town of Danville and the Alamo Danville Artists' Society (ADAS) hosted the ninth annual Art in the Park Festival on Front Street in Danville last weekend, Oct. 6-7, in the Town Green in front of the Danville Library and Community Center.

Sixty artists featured paintings, photography, sculptures, ceramics and jewelry, plus some were creating new works of art on the spot.

The free event raises money for schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, and has raised $60,000 for grants for art teachers. Artists give 10 percent of their sales to the schools.

Norma Webb, who paints in oils and was one of the organizers, said people enjoy the event, which is satisfying for the artists who normally work alone.

"They are really tickled and so enthused," she said. "I love it. I'm an artist and I got involved to meet people."

Congratulations to the Artists for their event and their HOSPITALITY.

The young smooth and fusion jazz band on Sunday was incredible. WHO were they and where do we get CD's to play at home?

Did you see the quality of the art, photograpy and jewelry? The exceptional quality was above much of our large craft events and should be brought to the major public events.

Thank you, Artists,

Hal
