| Parker Deuel recently earned All American honors in three events at the recent U.S. National Junior Olympic Track Championships held in Sacramento. It's nothing new for the 16-year-old junior at San Ramon Valley High School, who has earned the honors in each of the last six years he's competed.
Deuel placed second in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, which covers five laps over barriers and a water pit, with a time of 6:14.23, setting a new Northern California record. He set another Northern California record in the 1,500-meter race, placing fourth with a time of 4:04.01. Deuel also led his 4 x 800-meter relay team to a fifth place finish with a time of 8:30.18.
Deuel competes with The Heat, a Tri-Valley Junior Olympic track team, which won 10 medals in distance events at the championship meet -- the most by any team in the country. — Emily West Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
