Person airlifted to hospital after driving car into utility pole

Bookmark and Share
At least one victim was transported by helicopter to a hospital after a car hit a utility pole and box, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The extent of the injuries as a result of the crash is unknown at this time, he said.

The crash, which occurred just after 5 p.m. on Camino Tassajara Road at Blackhawk Drive, did not cause any immediate power outages, according to a spokeswoman for PG&E. The pole, however, was not owned or operated by PG&E.

I saw the results of the crash. It was at the driveway turn into the Mustang Soccer complex out on Camino Tassajara. The car was a grey/silver sport coupe Audi and crashed on a completely straight section of roadway. The electrical box that he hit was on the right side of the road on the east side of the driveway. The engine was completely ripped from the car and the driver, the only person in the car was ejected from the car. If I didn't know any better, the driver is completely lucky to be alive. However I have not heard his status.

The soccer facility was being utilized and I heard from a parent that witnessed a portion of the event that the driver passed him at what he estimated at 65 miles per hour in a 45 zone. He came upon the driver, spoke to him on the ground and he was alive at that point. First responders were the police and an ambulance, he was put in the ambulance but a helicopter was called and was transferred to the helicopter a while later, likely for need.

Ron, I feel sorry for you. What a cruel and unthoughtful thing to write.

Hey Joel...Who is the Ron comment you are addressing. I only see comments by John Tanner, David Lehman (that was removed) Depression is serious and real...most heavy depressed folks just don't believe there is a way out. It's sad but very true.

Dear Danville Weekly:

I appreciate that you remove some words that may be offensive to some individuals, but I am very disappointed with the little information that you put out. Your competitor (I won’t mention the name because you always remove it), reports ALL information. I started reading their website back in April when they posted way more information about a local news event than you did. They posted the name of the person driving this car. Although I do not know him or his family, I have heard many great things about him. All of his students love him and from what I hear, I wish my family had him when he was healthy. I appreciate that the other website posted his name so that I can spend something to him & his family. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be able to send wishes to the family.

My question to you, Danville Weekly, WHY DO YOU WITHHOLD SO MUCH INFORMATION ON THIS WEBSITE AND WHY DO YOU SOMETIMES REMOVE WORDS AND OTHER TIMES DELETE THE ENTIRE COMMENT?
