Danville Warrior Girl goes international

Casey Grimes has loved dancing since the age of 2. This passion has taken her around the world and back, as she recently traveled to Tokyo, Japan with some of her fellow Golden State Warrior Girls.

Grimes, a 2008 graduate of Monte Vista High School, was one of six Warrior Girls to take part in the 2010 Final Four of the Japanese Professional Basketball League. While there, the dance team put on dance clinics for local children and some adults, as well as preforming at each of the four games.

"It was all about working hard, that was probably our trip's motto," Grimes said.

Once they got off the plane, it was straight to work with an appearance, and then clinics the following two days. They did manage to squeeze in some of the sights, including the Tokyo Tower and sampling authentic Japanese cuisine.

One of her favorite part of teaching the Japanese children and adults was their work ethic.

"They were very dedicated," she said. "Once they put their mind to it, they don't give up."

The Warrior Girls also host dance clinics twice a year in the Bay Area as a way to be out in the community and share their expertise with others.

It's Grimes' second year as a Warrior Girl -- she tried out right after graduating from high school -- and she hopes to continue, as tryouts are in July and even the veterans must go through the process each year.
