Toast to tutoring Friday night
Wine event to raise money for popular tutorial program
|
The Buena Vista Auxiliary hosts its annual "A Toast to Tutoring" fundraiser to benefit the Buena Vista Tutorial Program, an early-intervention literacy program for elementary school children in Contra Costa County.
The tutorial program has helped more than 2,750 children improve their reading skills in a private, differentiated learning environment, organizers report.
The event is from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday April 30 at the Round Hill Country Club, 3169 Round Hill Road in Alamo, and features wine tasting from top wineries and a sit-down dinner, as well as live and silent auctions.
Rob and Tracey Hirt of RPM Mortgage are being honored this year for their $25,000 donation to the program.
For ticket information, contact Kristina Massey at 415-385-9673 or email atoasttotutoring@gmail.com. All proceeds will go directly to the tutorial program.

Posted by Colleen, a resident of the Walnut Creek neighborhood, on Apr 29, 2010 at 12:02 pm I just wanted to comment on this program. I have been involved with this program for the past several years as a teacher. It is such a beneficial and imperative program for our schools, especially with our recent budget cuts. It gives the teachers an opportunity to work directly with their own students to help with their reading skills and instill the confidence they need to be successful. Thank you to all its supporters!
