'No hard feelings' after Alamo woman crashes into neighbor's home
|
An Alamo woman backing out of her driveway Thursday morning lost control and accelerated into a neighbor's home across the street, then shifted into drive and crashed into her own home.
The woman, who is in her 70s, somehow accelerated too quickly while backing her BMW X3 out of her driveway in the 1400 block of Entrada Verde shortly after 10 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Wright said.
"For unknown reasons, she went out the driveway, across the street, and backed right into her neighbor's living room, causing extensive damage to her neighbor's home," Wright said. There were reports that the accelerator stuck.
She then put the car into drive and drove back through the neighbor's lawn, across the street and into her own garage where she crashed into a parked car, pushing it into her house, Wright said.
The woman suffered a minor cut to her face and was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
Wright said the CHP is investigating the accident, which he said is likely "just an unfortunate circumstance."
He said the damage to the neighbor's home was extensive, to the point where the house may be uninhabitable.
However, Wright said, it appears there are "no hard feelings."
"The neighbors do know each other and have known each other for many years," he said. — Bay City News Service Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Well, she's gonna get a ticket now sooner or later
'Cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator
And everybody's saying that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror of Colorado Boulevard
It's the little old lady from Pasadena
