Skin cells to stem cells
|
Imagine using your own skin cells to become stem cells, which in turn become new cells you will need for either stopping a disease you have or curing you of that disease. Sound futuristic? Well, not really. The future is here.
The AAUW Danville-Alamo Branch invites everyone to come hear leading stem cell researcher Dr. Birgit Schulte explain this phenomenal new advance in the war on disease and cancer and tell how this new research will impact our medical future.
Schulte will speak at the AAUW luncheon, at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Bridges Restaurant, 44 Church St. in Danville. It's a general meeting for the group but no business will be contacted and it is open to the public. The cost for lunch is $30 and includes a non-alcoholic beverage, entrée and dessert.
Reservations are required by Jan. 14. Send checks to the Danville-Alamo Branch AAUW, Attention: Robin, P.O. Box 996, Alamo 94507
