Art - and artists - of the Valley

Visit the Museum of the San Ramon Valley each month from February through May to view each installment of the new exhibit, "Art and Artists of the Valley."

This rotating exhibit, created in cooperation with the Alamo Danville Artists Society, looks at the historic sites and natural beauty of our region. Artists have depicted these subjects through their own eyes in unique and creative ways through paintings and sculpture. The exhibit includes works from local artists, the Museum's collection, and local high school students.

February features "Artists and Their Work," paintings created by San Ramon Valley residents or works of the Valley by non-resident artists. In March the medium presented will be "Sculpture," rendered by members of the ADAS. April will highlight the "History of the Valley in Art," featuring many of the historic sites we see around town every day. The month of May will conclude this exciting exhibit with "High School Students Create," a combination of High School and ADAS works.

Saturdays will be especially interesting as the Museum features an Artist of the Week who will demonstrate how the artistic eye approaches and accomplishes the beauty of the pieces on display. There will be opportunities to create art, as well.

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is located in the restored Southern Pacific Depot at 205 Railroad Ave., Danville. Hours are 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 10 a.m-1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students, $1 for children or $5 for families.

A Museum Store offers unique gifts, including the recently released history of Danville, "Vintage Danville: 150 Years of Memories." Call 837-3750 or go to www.museumsrv.org for additional information.
