Fern Feack, Museum volunteer: She and my grandmother and grandfather served with the Salvation Army overseas in France during WWI, operating a canteen on the front lines. She worked all her adult life in adult education and vocational training. She was an administrator in the Houston schools. She was always concerned about people being educated. I was an only child, and I felt I came into the world as an adult. She was very intelligent and was ahead of her time in the '20s and '30s when most women were housewives.
Mother's Day is this Sunday and whether you're making Mom breakfast in bed or getting out her hair for the day, all good children have something up their sleeves. But for some whose mothers have passed, Sunday is a day of remembrance. Roving reporter Stan Wharton asked people along Railroad Avenue What do you remember most about your mother?
